South Korean president’s conservatives crushed in assembly elections

National Assembly elections leave South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol a lame duck, with voters delivering a solid majority to the opposition Democratic Party.

While weakening Yoon's conservative party in the assembly, the results also question his moves to strengthen the country's alliance with the US, cooperation with Japan, and his hardline stance on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
