Palestine would be free if all Muslims helped it like Iran: Gaza reporter
A Gaza journalist has hailed Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause throughout decades, saying the Palestinian lands would’ve been liberated from Israeli occupation if all Muslim governments had helped Palestinians the way Iran does.
Israa Al-Buhaisi, who’s now a correspondent for Iran’s Arabic-language Al-Alam channel, made the remarks in a video message aired at a meeting between Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei with groups of women in Tehran on Wednesday.
“You, the Iranian nation, are the only nation that has been standing by the Palestinian issue and al-Aqsa mosque and was targeted with the most severe sanctions and pressures due to this support,” she said.
“I ask you not to leave the people of Palestine and Gaza alone and know that God is with us,” the journalist said.
Israel launched the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 after Hamas carried out a historic surpirse operation against the occupying regime in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
The bloodiest-ever war on Gaza has so far killed over 21,000 people, mostly women and children, and injured more than 55,000 others, with thousands more believed to be lost and buried under rubble. The regime has also cut off most water, food, and power supplies into Gaza.
“Keep supporting the Palestinian people the way you have up until now. If the position and resilience of all Muslim countries were like Iran, the Palestinian lands would’ve been liberated by now,” Al-Buhaisi said.
Iran started supporting Palestinians right after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, with the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, describing Israel as a “cancerous tumor” that must be removed from the region.
Iran has long proposed a referendum with the participation of all the original inhabitants of the Palestinian lands and their descendants as an ultimate solution to the long-running conflict in Palestine.
Iran has also supported Palestinian resistance movements in their battle to restore the rights of the oppressed nation.
