Iran unveils 1st homegrown jet trainer

Iran has unveiled and opened the mass-production line for a new domestically-developed training jet.

According to Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani the jet trainer is capable of carrying out combat missions as well as other tactical aerial warfare actions such as close air support or CAS: air-to-ground actions against hostile targets in close proximity to friendly forces.
Prior to this, jet pilot training was done outside Iran and due to western and US sanctions, Iranian pilots could not receive training abroad.
Iran started designing jet trainers over ten years ago. Yasin is the second generation of a prototype that was unveiled in 2019. The new version is now furnished with a homegrown ejection seat, avionics, engine, landing gear and full cockpit devices.
This training jet is fully equipped and it can be used for training pilots in all different levels. But there is more to Yasin than just training fighter jet pilots.
In the next two years, three more Yasin jet trainers will be produced based on the requirements of Iran’s Air Force.
Iran has made great achievements in the field of aviation and this is a symbol of self-sufficiency of the Islamic Republic.
