Growing disquiet in EU over impact of sanctions against Russia

EU foreign affairs ministers held their last scheduled meeting on Monday before taking a six week summer break. Of course, proceedings were dominated by the war in Ukraine.

Josep Borrell has doubled down on criticism of sanctions against Russia and their impact on EU citizens. He has even written a blog on the subject. It's reported he's doing this because of growing disquiet amongst EU leaders regarding the harm sanctions are causing.

Energy and food prices continue to rise in the EU, placing enormous pressure on citizens. Experts warn things could get worse.

Ordinary citizens are asking why we don't hear more about peace negotiations.

As the West continues to pump billions of euros and dollars into Ukraine, the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is sacking senior officials. Analysts say it shows the country remains corrupt at the highest levels.

The European Commission will unveil much-anticipated plans on Wednesday designed to ensure the EU doesn't run out of gas this winter.
