IranAir increases flights from Shiraz to Qatar’s Doha

Iran’s flag carrier will operate two flights per week between southern city of Shiraz and Qatar’s Doha.

Iran’s flag carrier IranAir has announced it is increasing flights between southern Iranian city of Shiraz and the Qatari capital Doha.

IranAir said in a Saturday statement that it will start a second weekly flight between Shiraz and Doha as of Monday.

The statement said the airline had increased the number of flights between the two cities to help growing trade ties between Iran and Qatar and to respond to rising demand for tourist visits to Shiraz from Qatar.

IranAir had launched a first weekly flight between Shiraz and Doha in July.

Shiraz, a city of over 1.8 million is Iran’s southern business capital.

Trade ties between Iran and Qatar have boomed in recent years as the two countries have enjoyed closer political perspectives on regional and international issues.

Growing trade and business between the two countries also owes itself to a sizable community of southern Iranians who live and work in Qatar.

Flights between Iran and Qatar had continued even at the height of the coronavirus outbreak in Iran in early 2020 when many international airlines suspended flights to Iran.
