The UK is home to some of the world's biggest weapons manufacturers, among them, Israel's Elbit Systems that's facing growing calls to close up shop.

They're small in number but they have big voices resonating along the Streets of Oldham, Manchester calling for Israeli arms company Elbit Systems to be shut down.

Today's event was organized by several pro-Palestine groups who have been campaigning against Elbit for supplying predatory drones and other military hardware to Israel, accusing the company of ‘terrorizing the people of Gaza’ and 'complicity in war crimes.’

Elbit Systems UK, a subsidiary of the Israel based company of the same name, employs over 500 people and has 10 sites in the UK, including four factories.

Apart from supplying Israel with weaponry, Elbit is also a major supplier of sophisticated technology to the British military.

Events such as the one today, have led to increasing public awareness about Elbit and its operations, and growing calls for its closure. That, the activists say, is one important step towards a free Palestine.
