Britain's Prince Andrew facing US judge’s deadline over sexual abuse case

Britain's Prince Andrew has to answer questions under oath by next July 14, a deadline set by a US judge over his sexual abuse lawsuit filed by a woman who accused him of abusing her when she was a teenager.

Lawyers for Andrew and Virginia Giuffre, his accuser, have a greed to the deadline set by US District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan, New York.

The Duke of York has been accused by Giuffre of having raped her at the London home of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.

The prince has "categorically" denied Giuffre's claims, which also involve another instance of sexual abuse on the disgraced Epstein's private island in the US Virgin Islands.

Giuffre, 38, was underage at the time of Andrew's alleged abuse, which she said occurred around the time his friend, the financier Jeffrey Epstein, was sexually abusing her.

The prince stepped down from royal duties as details emerged about his relationship with Epstein, a registered sex offender who killed himself in a Manhattan jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Andrew is also under pressure to shed more light on the nature and extent of Epstein’s relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of the disgraced media mogul, Robert Maxwell.

Ghislaine Maxwell – who is a British citizen – is accused of acting as a pimp for Epstein by procuring underage girls for his sexual gratification.
