Former US Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama are both more popular than now- President Donald Trump, a new poll shows.

According to the Gallup poll released Monday, Obama maintains a 63 percent approval rating while Bush enjoys a 59 percent support.

Conducted from June 7-11, the poll showed that the Republican president gained 7 percentage points over the past year.

His approval rating has risen among almost all core demographics surveyed by the poll, with the exception of young adults, with whom his approval rating remained well below the national average at just 42 percent , according to Gallup.

His support among Democrats has also shot up fourfold to 41 percent since March 2009.

Meanwhile, support for Obama, a Democrat, has been steady since he was last surveyed by Gallup during the lame-duck period of his presidency.

US President Donald Trump is being sworn in on January 20, 2017 at the US Capitol building in Washington, DC.

His favorability remained high among all major demographic groups, such as men, women and all age categories.

The least support for Obama came from Republicans, only 22 percent of whom viewed him as favorable.

Trump currently has a 40 percent favorability rating, well below both the former commander in chiefs.

Since he started running, Trump has frequently dismissed unfavorable coverage as “fake news,” and highlighted coverage by more Trump-friendly outlets such as Fox News.

Trump managed to win the 2016 presidential election by defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose campaign had been hit with many controversies since its inception in the early 2015.
