US President Donald Trump calls on NBC News to stop covering an investigation into his alleged collusion with Russia.

The president said on Twitter on Saturday that the American broadcast network and the moderator of its “Meet the Press,” Chuck Todd, should instead report on former President Barack Obama’s wiretapping of Trump Tower in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

“When will Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd and @NBCNews start talking about the Obama SURVEILLANCE SCANDAL and stop with the Fake Trump/Russia story?”

“It is the same Fake News Media that said there is "no path to victory for Trump" that is now pushing the phony Russia story. A total scam,” he added in a tweet minutes later.

On Friday, Todd (pictured below) interviewed American defense attorney Abbe Lowell and former White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest about Russia’s alleged interference into the election that yielded President Trump on November 8, 2016.

In a declassified report released in January, the intelligence community concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin helped the real estate tycoon win the White House, an allegation dismissed both by Moscow and Trump ever since.

Three parallel investigations have been launched into the matter; one by the Senate Intelligence Committee, another by the House Intelligence Committee, along with one by the FBI.

Trump has been a staunch critic of what he refers to as “fake news” by the US media.

Last month, he accused his predecessor of having “wiretapped” his tower in Midtown Manhattan, a claim later dismissed by FBI Director James Comey.

Comey’s statement, made during a hearing before the House Intelligence Committee late March, has failed to change the president’s mind about the claims.
